On my Research Project

My research project is currently up a completely disheveled mess because I’ve constantly had to change and adapt my ideas as I’ve gone through. This is inherent in the research process, and not really a complaint. The Scrum and Trello lessons from john Michael have helped me learn how to organize my projects and adapt to problems more effectively. Initially I was going to try to use D3, a JavaScript library, to incorporate ideas from my Global environmental politics class to make a an interactive representation of climate change models by Princeton’s Carbon Mitigation institute called Wedge model. It would have been super cool. Unfortunately, as I got more in depth in my project I learned that I had no idea what I was talking about, and I couldn’t do anything that I wanted to do, in the given time, with my limited skills. In effect, I was too stupid to realize how stupid I was (Dunning-Kruger’ed myself). The process of having to change my research project with like 4 weeks left really handicapped me and made it much harder to come up with a good research project. I am I am doing a project where I visualize sugar consumption hidden in foods and connect that to the environmental degradation and health impacts that sugar causes on the body and I think that’s super cool. I am still incorporating some of the D3 ideas from my last work, but I’m trying to take it in a new direction. I’m almost done with the project, and I’m really proud of it.
